Sanjay Leela Bhansali was born in Bombay in 1963 and faced a challenging upbringing due to his father’s alcoholism. His mother, Leela, worked hard to support the family by dancing in theaters and sewing clothes at night. Bhansali started his career as an assistant before directing his first film, Khamoshi: The Musical, which was critically acclaimed. He achieved commercial success with films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Black, Gooliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat. His latest project, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, marks his debut in the OTT platform.

Today, Bhansali is considered one of the top directors in India, with a reported net worth of around Rs 940 crores. His inspiring journey from a difficult childhood to becoming one of the most successful filmmakers in the industry is a testament to his talent and hard work.
