Did 'The Simpsons' predict Kamala Harris as next US President?

US President Joe Biden has ended his re-election bid and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the new Democratic nominee. The sudden change is similar to the development predicted years ago in the popular animated series The Simpsons.

In the 17th episode of season 11, which aired in 2000, Lisa Simpson became America’s first female president. She is seen in a garment similar to the one worn by Kamala Harris at Joe Biden’s inauguration, hinting at her rise to the presidency in the future.

The episode also points to a predecessor who left behind a budget crisis for President Lisa’s management, strongly suggesting that a real estate mogul (Donald Trump) had previously held office.

The Simpsons has a history of making terrifyingly accurate and satirical references to global events. Some of his past predictions include the rise of smartwatches, Donald Trump’s presidency, Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox and Finnish economist Bengt R. Holmstrom winning Nobel Prizes for his work.

Recently, a cartoon showing the former president lying in a coffin went viral. This comes after the recent assassination attempt on Trump.

Joe Biden dropped out of the US presidential race on Sunday, saying leaving office was “in the interest of my party and country. Trump’s departure was widely expected after his poor performance in the June debate. The announcement came unexpected as he was recovering from COVID-19 at his Delaware beach home.

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris received significant support from prominent Democratic figures, including Hillary Clinton and California Governor Gavin Newsom, who are also potential rivals for the nomination.

Democratic fundraising group ActBlue reported that Harris received $27.5 million in small donations within just five hours.
