In India, receiving complimentary dhaniya patta (coriander leaves) when buying vegetables is a cherished tradition for many. This cultural expectation was humorously highlighted in a social media post by a Mumbai resident, Ankit Sawant, whose mother was taken aback when she realized she had to pay for coriander while ordering vegetables online from Blinkit.

Ankit shared her suggestion on X, proposing that the platform should offer coriander for free with a certain amount of vegetable purchases.
The post caught the attention of Blinkit’s CEO, Albinder Dhindsa, who responded promptly on X, saying, “Will do”. Not long after, Dhindsa announced that the feature had been implemented, sharing a screenshot that showed Blinkit now offers 100 grams of complimentary coriander when customers order specific vegetables.
This update was met with much amusement and positive feedback from users, leading to a series of light-hearted comments and suggestions.
One user jokingly remarked, “This Dhaniya update is worth a billion dollars in market cap. 5% higher closing tomorrow,’ while another took the opportunity to suggest that Blinkit should introduce reusable jute or cloth bags with a refundable fee to reduce paper waste from frequent deliveries.
